Bio: A few months ago, the person I want to be when I am an adult (Pauline C. aka muva from anotha island, aka Fonecalltoolong needtohangup N’ makesomemulla aka Briska Manouka) asked me if I would be interested in writing movie reviews around the Nouveaux Regards Film Festival. 

I pretended to be too busy for a few seconds but then received a notification from my bank that I was 2 months late on my mortgage. It had nothing to do with anything, as the writing gig was unpaid, but I love procrastinating my real life problems away and this gave me an opportunity to ignore my deteriorating financial situation and soon to be demise. 

I was ultimately swayed in writing this article when Pauline said “the best movie critics are failed filmmakers” a week after I sent her my debut film  dèyè do bon dié (12 Festival picks including Bafta-qualifying, Bifa-qualifying and Oscar-qualifying festivals but no qualification).
